Real-time event and risk detection solutions provider Dataminr on Tuesday announced plans to acquire threat intelligence firm ThreatConnect for $290 million in cash and equity.

Dataminr has developed a platform that leverages AI to process public data signals in search of critical events and threats, both in the physical and cyber worlds. It targets events such as natural disasters, civil unrest, vulnerabilities, data leaks, and financial market-moving events.

Earlier this year, Dataminr announced raising $85 million in a funding round that brought the total investment in the company to over $1 billion.

Arlington, Virginia-based ThreatConnect provides a platform designed to help security teams aggregate, analyze and act on cyber threat intelligence.

The company has raised more than $20 million in funding. Its solutions are used by 250 enterprises and government organizations, including Nike, Wells Fargo, Wyndham Hotels, and government agencies in the US, UK, and Australia.

The goal of the acquisition is to combine Dataminr’s data signals platform with ThreatConnect’s deep internal data capabilities to create agentic AI-powered intelligence that is tailored to the needs of each customer.

“By uniting our AI platform with the capabilities of ThreatConnect, Dataminr will fuse external public data signals and internal client data to pioneer the first-ever real-time Client-Tailored intelligence,” said Ted Bailey, founder and CEO of Dataminr.

“The future of Dataminr’s real-time intelligence will be more relevant and actionable than ever before—enabling our clients to not just understand what is happening, but what it means to them, and how they should respond,” Bailey added.
