Scamnetic emerged from stealth mode on Tuesday with a solution designed to help individuals and businesses detect scams in real time.

The Tampa, Florida-based firm has developed a solution that leverages AI to detect and prevent scams, including ones involving deep fake audio and video.

The Scamnetic platform automatically scans emails and text messages, as well as links, QR codes and even images and physical mail in an effort to identify potential risks.

The company claims it can also verify the identity of someone the user is interacting with over video, audio or text, which can help prevent dating, crypto, and investment scams.

Scamnetic’s offering also includes ‘scam intervention’ capabilities designed to help victims who require assistance.

The firm’s business model is B2B2C. It will launch a subscription service for consumers in the coming months, but its AI technology can also be integrated into enterprise platforms.

Scamnetic told SecurityWeek that it has raised $1.35 million in pre-seed funding from Ruxton Ventures, Roo Capital, SaaS Ventures, and several angel investors.

The company was founded by Al Pascual, who will serve as CEO, and John Evans, who will serve as COO.
