Network security appliance vendor SonicWall on Wednesday announced the acquisition of San Francisco startup Banyan Security, adding technology for zero-trust network access to its product portfolio.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Banyan Security, which raised a total of $47 million over two funding rounds, has built technology to help organizations to securely connects users to applications, resources and infrastructure.

The company’s flagship product promises to protect remote users from hacker attacks and empower corporate defenders to continuously evaluated and respond to real-time threats across hybrid, multi-cloud, and SaaS environments.

SonicWall, based in Silicon Valley, said the acquisition strengthens its portfolio to include SSE (secure service edge) and ZTNA (zero trust network access) technologies.

The company said the deal aligns with a “best of suite” strategy that includes network, endpoint, wireless, cloud email, and threat intelligence — under a single, multi-tenant portal.

The announcement follows SonicWall’s acquisition of Solutions Granted, a managed service security provider.
